SHA(i)PES of the FUTURE
Oxford Brookes University
9-12 September 2026
Here you can register for the Conference and for the Conference Dinner. One word about the conference fee. The SRN does not charge a membership fee and therefore organisers of the Annual Conference must cover expenses by charging a registration fee. The fee is set to be just enough to break even and no profit is made out of it. A good 80% of the total expenses this year (in fact, in most years) goes into catering costs. One thing one learns by attending dozens of conferences over the years is that feeding people decently and, possibly, within the premises over the course of those 3-4 long days is just as important as running sessions smoothly. This year, we are also planning to go as paperless as possible to keep costs down. A few trees will be grateful – although moving most of the info online means that the data centre round the corner from campus will probably offset that anyway.
Both speaking and non-speaking delegates must register to attend the conference, as usual. Click one of the buttons below with the rate that applies to you, then follow these steps to complete your registration.
- On the Registration web page, select again the rate that applies to you. [Note: the two rates are inclusive of VAT. Both apply regardless of whether you will be giving a presentation or simply attending the conference. Registration fees mainly cover the cost of catering and keynote speakers.]
- On selecting the applicable rate, your order will open in a new Shopping basket window, wherein you can add more guests in case you are booking for more than one person. Then click on “Proceed to Checkout”.
- In the new screen, type in your email address and select “Continue as Guest”.
- Enter your personal details.
- Fill in your payment details.
- Check and confirm everything.
- You should receive a sale confirmation/invoice via email (let us know if not).
DISCOUNTED RATE: PhD students and ECRs/postdocs without permanent contract
FULL RATE: everybody else
The Conference Dinner will be at Browns Brasserie in central Oxford.
The price is 30 GBP per person for a 3-course sit-down menu that will include vegetarian and vegan options as well (drinks not included).
We will post the menu on the website in the coming weeks, as well as details for any particular dietary requirements. There will be enough room to accommodate everyone so there is no particular rush; but, of course, the sooner you book the sooner we’ll be able to confirm numbers with the restaurant.
Click on the button below, then stick to the following steps:
- On the registration web page, indicate how many people you wish to book a seat for. Then click on “Add to Basket”.
- Open your basket. Check the amount is correct and click on “Proceed to Checkout”.
- In the new screen, type in your email address and select “Continue as Guest”.
- Enter your personal details.
- Fill in your payment details.
- Check and confirm everything.
- You should receive a sale confirmation/invoice via email (let us know if not).
Once you have signed up for the dinner, to help speed up preparation and service, we invite everyone to pre-order their course options by clicking the button below. The link will open in a separate window. It is a template form, so please ignore the fixed price choice, which we have already agreed with the restaurant. Choose one option per course, then add your dietary requirements (if any) by clicking the button on the right. If you can’t find your requirements in the list, add them in the Notes field. And if you order for more than one person, specify that too. One you’re done, click on “Place order” to confirm. In the new screen, add your full name and email address, and confirm. You will not be charged again for this.
NOTE: the “Pre-order” button is also available in the EATING section of the CONFERENCE page. You only need to pre-order once, either here or there.
